Jammie Foxx Has Been Hospitalized

(NewsSpace.com) – Eric Marlon Bishop, better known to America as “Jamie Foxx,” is a stand-up comedian whose career began with a dare to step up at an open mic night in 1989. In the decades since, he has established himself as a successful actor, having appeared in numerous TV shows and movies, including “The Jamie Foxx Show” and “In Living Color.” Recently the 55-year-old suffered a medical emergency that landed him in the hospital.

According to TMZ, Foxx was hospitalized after suffering a “medical complication” on Tuesday, April 12. The next day, his daughter, Corinne Foxx, confirmed it was serious in a family statement on social media. She said that her father had received “great care” and asked that people give her family privacy.

Foxx is currently in Atlanta to film the movie “Back in Action,” which also stars Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close. PEOPLE Magazine reported that it had obtained an email earlier this week that was informing extras that the filming schedule was changing and one particular scene would not be rescheduled.

Filming was also halted on Wednesday, likely due to Foxx’s hospitalization, but with a stand-in, production restarted on Thursday.

An update provided by TMZ on April 13 stated that doctors were still doing testing to determine exactly what happened to the star, but there is no more information about what type of medical emergency he experienced. It was serious enough that some of his family from out of town traveled to Atlanta to be by his bedside. The good news, however, according to sources, is that he is “doing a lot better” and has been joking and communicating with his family.

There is no word when he will be released from the hospital, though TMZ reported it could be a few days. There’s also no timeline for his return to set or how that will affect the film production.
