(NewsSpace.com) – On August 10, 2019, convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City, where he was awaiting trial on a slew of crimes. In the years since there have been few answers about exactly what happened the night he died. Two of the cameras in the facility were inoperable at the time, and there were lots of questions about the guards and other prisoners in the facility. Now, Fox News host Tucker Carlson is calling for an investigation.
Carlson called out the nation’s “top cop” at the time, Attorney General William Barr, for what he sees are perceived failures on Barr’s part. According to the Fox News host, Barr simply reviewed a video, saw that nobody accessed Epstein’s tier that day, and closed the case. Carlson also calls into question the cause of death, which was eventually ruled a suicide. However, he points out that the medical examiner could not initially determine a cause of death, and “the pathologist came away believing Epstein was murdered.” Chief Medical Examiner Barbara Sampson, however, ruled his death as a suicide and emphatically stood behind that claim.
The Fox News host goes on to talk about how nobody dug deep into the other prisoners on Epstein’s tier and insinuates one of them could have murdered the prisoner. He calls this lack of investigation “a baffling oversight.”
Despite Carlson’s calls for investigation, the fact is that the Justice Department did look into the circumstances surrounding the financier’s death. However, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has yet to release the report and its findings.
Epstein also had high-profile connections, including to former President Bill Clinton, who was logged several times flying to the financier’s island, Prince Andrew, and Bill Gates, and some speculate he may have died because of those connections.
