(NewsSpace.com) – Law enforcement officers routinely carry out raids on homes when they are looking for suspects. However, they cannot do so without the proper warrant, and it’s imperative that they have the right information to ensure they get the right home and suspect. One mother is now claiming police in Elyria, Ohio, were responsible for something that landed her toddler in the ICU.
The incident took place on the afternoon of January 10, when Courtney Price was getting ready to feed her son. She said there was a loud knock on the door, and that’s when things went horribly wrong. Price claims the police busted in the door, and the next thing she knew, she had “multiple guns pointed at” her, causing her to “freeze in fear.” Then, with smoke pouring in the window, she feared for her child.
Price’s son, 1-year-old Waylon, has health issues. He was born prematurely with a hole in his heart, has pulmonary hypertension, and is on a ventilator. She said as the police “jerked” her out of the home, she was screaming for her son and telling the officers he has health issues. She claims they ignored her.
Detectives called Lifecare Ambulance to assess and treat the child. He was then transported to the hospital, and he was released that night. The next day, he was admitted to the pediatric ICU. The police department said it wasn’t responsible for the hospitalization, despite Price alleging the flash-bangs officers set off were what caused Waylon’s reaction and necessary treatment. Price also said one of the officers said, “Sorry, wrong house,” a statement they deny, saying the address on the warrant was the correct one.
Price, who is from Kentucky, was staying at her relative’s home because Waylon was scheduled to have surgery soon, but that has since been pushed back. The suspect police were looking for had not been a resident of that house for more than a year, according to Price’s aunt and uncle, who live there.
The police are denying all allegations, but there is an open investigation.
