(NewsSpace.com) – There has been a lot of tension surrounding the conflict in the Middle East. Israel has been at war with Hamas for more than six months, with the goal of eradicating the militant group. However, the tension isn’t limited to the Jewish state and Gaza. It’s having global repercussions, including in the United States. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu now has a warning.
In a video posted on X, formerly Twitter, Netanyahu addresses the protests that have emerged on college campuses in the US, saying they are “unconscionable” and must be stopped. He’s calling for the condemnation of the protests that are marred by demonstrators chanting antisemitic statements, such as “death to Israel, death to the Jews.” He also called out that some of the protestors were even saying “death to America,” and likened them to the protests that took place in 1930s Nazi Germany.
The PM then took college universities to task, saying their response was “shameful.” Netanyahu warned that “anti-Semitism is the canary in the coal mine,” an early indicator of danger, that “always precedes larger conflagrations that engulf the entire world.” He also spoke with Republican senators, telling them to replace Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), the highest-ranking Jewish politician in the government, because he’s an impediment to peace in the Middle East.
There have been multiple protests at several colleges and universities around the country in the past few weeks. This includes Columbia University, New York University, Harvard, and the University of Texas. Scores of college students, including Progressive Rep. Ilhan
Omar’s (D-MN) daughter, have been arrested by police in riot gear for gathering and allegedly disrupting campus activities.
Jewish Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) had a scathing rebuke to Netanyahu, pointing out all the ways the Israeli prime minister was wrong and ending his sentiment by saying, “It is not antisemitic to hold you accountable for your actions.”
