(NewsSpace.com) – On November 12, 2021, a federal grand jury indicted Steve Bannon, media executive and former White House chief strategist, for contempt of Congress. Eight months later, on July 22, 2022, a jury found him guilty of two counts. The judge sentenced him to four months in prison. He appealed the sentence to the Supreme Court but failed. He then turned himself in on July 1 but his daughter said his incarceration will not keep him from speaking out.
On Tuesday, July 2, Maureen Bannon, appeared on “Just the News, No Noise” and said that if people believed her father would be “silenced” because he was in prison, they had another thing coming. She said his podcast, “War Room,” would run in his absence, and “his voice will get louder.” Over the next four months that Bannon is expected to be behind bars, there will be a series of guest hosts on the production “that will get the word out.”
According to The New York Times, Bannon recruited at least 20 guest hosts who will take his place behind the microphone. The show airs for four hours each day from Monday through Friday and six hours on Saturdays. The list of popular conservative figures who will keep Bannon’s show going includes his daughter, Maureen; former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s son, Andrew Giuliani; Osama bin Laden’s niece, Noor bin Laden; and economist Peter Navarro. The latter is set to complete his own prison sentence for contempt of Congress on July 17.
Bannon took the sentencing in stride, saying he was “proud to go to prison” and if that was necessary “to stand up to Joe Biden,” he would do it with pride. He also referred to himself as a “political prisoner.” He was indicted after he refused to appear before Congress on October 7, 2021, and again on October 14, 2021.
