Barron Trump Declines Selection As Florida Delegate

(NewsSpace.com) – When former President Donald Trump was in office, his youngest son, Barron, was kept mostly out of the spotlight. Melania Trump cared for the youngster while her husband ran the country. Now that Barron is 18 and graduating high school, it seems expected that he will follow his father and siblings into the political realm.

On Wednesday, May 8, the Republican Party of Florida, picked Barron Trump to serve as one of the state’s at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention (RNC). The full list also included Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and his fiance, Kimberly Guilfoyle, and Tiffany Trump and her husband, Michael Boulos, making it a real Trump affair. Noticeably missing from the list is Ivanka, who previously served in the Trump administration and has decided to stay out of politics moving forward. She, like the rest of her family, calls Florida home.

While Trump’s other children have been active in campaigning and helping him run his businesses, this would have been Barron’s first public foray into the political sphere. In a fresh turn of events, though, it seems Barron has declined to join the political side of the family business at this time. In a statement from his mother Melania’s office, Barron has chosen to bow out “due to prior commitments.”

Barron graduates from high school on May 17, and his father will be in attendance after getting approval from Judge Juan Merchan. The elder Trump will also be attending a Republican Party fundraiser that same day in Minnesota, following the ceremony.

Despite Barron’s vacating the delegation, others on the list include grassroots leaders and those who endorsed Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in his quest to secure the nomination. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, Senate President-Designate Ben Albrtitton, and former AG Pam Bondi are included.

Trump hasn’t been able to campaign much as he’s been in a Manhattan courtroom, where he’s facing 34 felony charges of falsifying business records to cover up alleged hush-money payments. His trial is well underway, with several key witnesses, including adult film star Stephanie “Stormy Daniels” Clifford, taking the stand.
