GOP Needs to Exercise “Extreme Caution” Towards Emerging Democratic Energy

(NewsSpace.com) – President Joe Biden made the decision to drop out of the 2024 election and “pass the torch” to a younger generation. His second-in-command, Vice President Kamala Harris, has made it her mission to “earn” the nomination, and Democrats have rallied behind her in a big way. That has led to one congressman warning that the GOP needs to be “very careful.”

On Wednesday, July 24, Rep. Scott Fitzerald (R-WI) appeared on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America,” where he cautioned Republicans to be “very careful” about the energy surrounding Harris. Democrats have indicated they are behind her all the way, and the donations speak to the energy as well. In a matter of days after Biden announced he was stepping out of the race, Harris’ campaign raised $126 million. She also secured enough delegates to become the presumptive nominee.

Fitzgerald said her first rally, which took place in his home state, was “interesting.” In fact, there were “more people than they anticipated,” which spurred talks of potentially moving the venue. He then noted that Democrats were expressing “a renewed excitement,” which means that Republicans have “to be diligent to make sure [they] get President [Donald] Trump elected.”

Currently, the polls are mixed. Some show Harris leading Trump by a margin of a few points, and some show Trump leading. Harris seems to be at the forefront among undecided and independent voters, as well as third-party Latinos who are skeptical of both Trump and Biden. Trump’s campaign pollster, Tony Fabrizio, appears to be unconcerned by this fact and said the energy is expected to be a short-term thing.

Harris campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon says that Harris is well-positioned to win among white college-educated voters, where she currently beats Trump by 19 percentage points, and among voters age 65 and up, where she’s in the lead by 18 percentage points.
