Ron DeSantis Spearheading A Multi-State Fundraising Campaign For Trump

(NewsSpace.com) – Former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) have had a bit of a contentious relationship. The two were initially buddy-buddy, which soured when they faced off in the Republican primary race. However, things are looking up between the two again, as DeSantis is now looking to raise money for Trump’s campaign.

Things between Trump and DeSantis seemed to be on the healing track in April. The two met toward the end of that month to discuss how they could work together to secure Trump’s win — and thus a win for Republicans — this November.

DeSantis is said to have requested the meeting. Then, in May, during a conference DeSantis hosted with several of his allies, the former president called in and expressed his gratitude for DeSantis, saying, “Ron, I love that you’re back.”

Now, DeSantis seems ready to hit the campaign trail for the Right for America SuperPAC, led by former Marvel Entertainment chairman Ike Perlmutter. He hopes to raise at least $10 million for Trump’s campaign. Per NBC News, one of the Florida governor’s advisers said, “We believe Biden needs to be beaten,” and that DeSantis “is willing to put the sword down,” meaning he put his feud with the former president aside for the better good.

There are plans for the money as well. It will go toward media buys in key swing states. It is starting its coffers at $13 million: $10.1 million was donated by Perlmutter, and $1 million came from Southern Waste Systems chairman Anthony Lomangino, a longtime Trump supporter.

Trump was recently found guilty of 34 felony charges of falsifying business records in Manhattan. It’s not clear how those convictions will affect his presidential campaign just yet. His sentencing is set for July 11, but his attorneys have vowed to appeal the decision as soon as possible.
